Product Summary

Granular processing has become one of the most creatively powerful techniques in modern production — and NanoBeast from W. A. Production is built to make it accessible, flexible, and genuinely fun to push to extremes. At its core, NanoBeast takes any incoming audio source and slices it into tiny grains, then reassembles those fragments with control over how they play back, how they’re timed, and how they’re shaped. The result can range from shimmering ambient textures to hard-cut stuttered rhythms to completely unrecognisable sonic transformations.

The grain engine is tempo-synced and spans from 1/64th-note rips all the way up to smooth, evolving textures. You control the grain fade time, which determines whether transients stay sharp and defined or blur into soft, washed-out clouds. A real-time grain morphing display lets you see exactly what the plugin is doing to your audio as it happens.

What makes NanoBeast stand apart from a basic granular processor is the Morph control, which gives you three distinct playback modes. Input mode takes your source signal and runs it through the granular engine directly, keeping the FX processing front and centre. Sidechain mode is where things get genuinely creative — you can route two separate audio sources into the plugin and NanoBeast will progressively swap random grains between them, morphing one sound into another in ways that are hard to replicate with any other tool. Mute mode removes the source signal and creates stuttered, gate-style breakdowns that fragment over time.

The Grain FX rack adds a further layer of sonic sculpting on top of the core granular engine. Drops introduces random grain dropouts for unpredictable rhythmic patterns. Spread distributes individual grains across the stereo field, generating substantial width. Shift applies random pitch variations to individual grains, and Scatter introduces timing offsets, meaning no two moments of processing will sound identical even with the same settings.

Beyond the granular engine itself, NanoBeast includes two additional layers of polishing and character. The A & B FX section provides high-pass and low-pass filters to shape the tonal footprint, along with three effect options: Space (lush reverb), Flow (vintage-style tape modulation), and Crush (bit-crushing and sample rate reduction for lo-fi texture).

The plugin ships with a large collection of factory presets covering soundscape creation, rhythmic deconstruction, and more chaotic transformations — designed to be used as creative starting points for warping any audio source. The interface is resizable, and W. A. Production describe it as responsive and CPU-friendly. A full PDF manual and tutorial video are also included.

Key Features

Processing

  • Advanced granular morphing and manipulation — slice any audio into tempo-synced grains from 1/64th note upward, with control over grain fade for sharp transients or smooth textures
  • Three Morph modes — Input, Sidechain, and Mute; Sidechain mode progressively swaps grains between two separate audio sources for unique cross-signal morphing
  • A & B FX chain — high-pass and low-pass filters plus three effect modules: Space (reverb), Flow (tape modulation), and Crush (bit-crushing / sample rate reduction)

Control

  • Grain FX rack — four dedicated controls: Drops (random grain dropouts), Spread (stereo distribution), Shift (random pitch variation per grain), and Scatter (random timing offsets per grain)
  • Syncable grain size — tempo-synced from 1/64th note to smooth evolving textures with adjustable fade time

Visual

  • Real-time grain morphing display — monitor the granular processing visually as it occurs
  • Resizable interface — scale the GUI to suit your screen and workflow

Workflow

  • Large factory preset library — covers soundscape creation, rhythmic deconstruction, and chaotic transformation styles as creative starting points
  • Responsive and CPU-friendly — designed for efficient real-time processing
  • Full PDF manual and tutorial video included
  • Plugin formats: VST / AU / AAX

System Compatibility

  • Windows 10/11 or higher (64 bit)
  • macOS 10.15 or higher (64 bit)
