Bloom Ensemble Mallets at a Glance

Bloom Ensemble Mallets by Excite Audio is a playable mallet instrument built from pianos, vibraphones, marimbas, glockenspiels and bells. It’s the newest instrument in Excite Audio’s Bloom series, made for electronic, ambient, downtempo and cinematic music.

You play it from the keyboard. The white keys trigger individual sounds and the black keys launch phrases or change settings, so you can go from a single bell note to a full ensemble sequence without leaving the main page. Four macros, Age, Lo-Fi, Bounce and Smudge, shape the sound as you play.

There are over 250 presets in seven categories: Full Ensembles, Experimental, High Energy, Low Energy, Melodic, Solo and Textures. Excite Audio says the sound was inspired by artists such as Pantha Du Prince, Four Tet, Bonobo and Floating Points.

If you go deeper, the Edit Page works like a sampler. You can chop hits and loops, reverse a marimba roll, re-pitch a glockenspiel and program sequences synced to your track’s tempo. You can also drag in your own samples and build custom banks.
