KHORDS is a sample-based virtual instrument built around one specific creative goal: making it fast and easy to drop great-sounding, harmonically rich chord tones directly into your productions. It’s not a general-purpose synth — it’s a focused chord and melodic instrument built on Loopmasters’ sampling catalogue, designed to give you mix-ready tones from the moment you open it.
The sound library gives you 315 chord and note samples drawn from a wide range of sources — stabs, plucks, strums, pads, atmospheres, and more. These are organised into Major, Minor, and Root/Open categories so you can browse and select sounds that stay musically coherent with whatever you’re working on. The random selector respects that tonality, meaning you can cycle through new sample options within the same major or minor category without accidentally disrupting the feel of your track.
On top of the raw sample library, KHORDS ships with 550 presets to get you working immediately. Chord samples repitch up and down the keyboard in the same way a classic sampler would, giving the instrument its familiar, characterful feel rather than forcing every note through pitch-shifting algorithms.
The synth engine underneath the samples gives you meaningful real-time control over the sound. Timestretch and formant shifting let you change a sample’s character without simply transposing it — useful for reshaping the texture of a pad or pluck without it sounding artificially pitched. The filter section offers 12 filter types with Pre-Drive, Resonance, and Key Tracking, plus a dedicated Filter ADSR envelope and a Filter LFO with Amount, Rate, Shape, Phase, and Trigger controls. The amplitude side has its own full ADSR envelope as well.
For movement and space, KHORDS provides six chorus algorithms, three delay types, and six reverb environments. On the modulation side, you can assign four Mod Wheel destinations from a comprehensive list of parameter options, giving you expressive real-time control during performance or automation.
