Reason Rack 13 is the Reason Studios instrument and effects ecosystem delivered as a pure plugin — no standalone DAW required. It runs as a VST3, AU, or AAX plugin inside any compatible host, meaning you can bring Reason’s iconic modular Rack directly into Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Pro Tools, Cubase, or wherever you already work.

The core concept is the Rack itself: a virtual signal chain where instruments, effects, and MIDI Player Effects are wired together freely using audio and CV routing. This isn’t a traditional insert plugin with a few knobs — it’s a full modular environment that lives inside your DAW. You can build layered instruments, complex signal chains, custom effect racks, and evolving textures that would be impossible to achieve through conventional plugin stacking.

The package includes 66 devices covering the full range of what Reason Studios builds. On the instrument side you’ve got Polytone (dual-layer analog-inspired synth), Europa (wavetable), Thor (polysonic with six oscillator types), Malström (graintable), Subtractor (analog subtractive), Kong (drum designer), Redrum (drum computer), Mimic (creative sampler), NN-XT (advanced sampler), Dr. Octo Rex (REX loop player), Radical Piano, and Humana (vocal ensemble). Six Player MIDI FX handle real-time performance transformation — including Beat Map, Dual Arpeggio, Note Echo, and Scales & Chords, plus Note Tool and Random Tool.

The effects library is equally deep. Ripley Space Delay, RV7000 MkII Reverb, Scream 4 Sound Destruction Unit, Audiomatic Retro Transformer, Pulveriser Demolition, Master Bus Compressor, Alligator Triple Filtered Gate, the MClass mastering suite, and Softube Amp and Bass Amp models are all in there, along with many more. Utilities include the Combinator (for building complex macro-controlled device chains), Matrix Pattern Sequencer, Pulsar Dual LFO, Spider Audio and CV splitters, and standard mixing and routing devices.

The full sound library of 30,000+ patches, loops, and samples is included, and all content is tagged and categorised for fast filtering and browsing inside the built-in Browser. Reason Rack integrates fully with your DAW host — parameter automation, tempo sync, and standard plugin routing all work as expected.
